What is non-hierarchical decision making?

We run the group non-hierarchically, ie we work together as equals, without anyone occupying official positions of power or privilege. It also means consciously working to recognise and break down informal hierarchies as well. One of the most important elements of this is to try and make sure everyone gets an equal say at meetings; if some people are speaking a lot more than others, they will get lower priority.
